Interactive Group Institute Training
For complete training in leadership of Interactive IFS Groups, there are the following components:
- Experience being a member of an Interactive Group.
It is crucial that you have the experience of being a member so you know what it is like for your group members.
This could be one of the Institute groups, our Level 1 Training, or another group that is similar.
- Learning about the Interactive Group Model and how to lead Interactive IFS Groups.
This is covered in our Level 1 Training.
- Practice leading a peer group with live supervision and feedback.
This could be in our Level 1 Training or a Leader Practice Group.
- Co-leading your Interactive Group with a trainer, including supervision.
This is through the Apprenticeship program. It could be your group or an Institute group. These opportunities are currently limited by the number of trainers, which is now just Jay.
- Leading your Interactive Group under supervision.
This could be your own group or an Apprenticeship Group.
- Leading three or more of your groups, with occasional supervision.
For full development as a group leader, you need lots of experience.
Certification
The Institute Certifies professionals as Interactive IFS Group Leaders.
To be Certified by the Institute, most people need the first five components above, though experienced group leaders may not need 3 and 4.
And you must demonstrate your competence in leading groups.
The Certification process is not just a checklist, but rather an educational journey where you learn a lot about yourself along the way.
Note:
Certification affirms that the person is a competent leader of Interactive IFS Groups. It does not confer any legal, professional, or licensing rights. It does not authorize the practice of psychotherapy, counseling, coaching, or any activity that requires a professional license under local, state, or national laws.
